Vibrant life

Vibrant life, originally uploaded by Jeromie.

This was a near selection for the DCF gallery this Sunday. This was taken at an oil mill in Pendleton - I loved the vibrant greens, even if it is a little bit creepy to see algae thriving less than a block from downtown Pendleton.

As a side note, even though I've been a member of Flickr since beta, this is the first picture I've uploaded to the service. I just got a new program for organizing / processing my photos, and there's a plugin that will upload directly to Flickr, so you can expect to see a lot more. Of course, since they just added the capability for short videos about a week ago, my upload may officially mark the point at which Flickr has jumped the shark. Oh well.

  1. A shark jumping an algae-covered oil mill.

Now THAT would be a sight to see. :)

'Tis a pleasant shot, and one close to my own heart, as I love the expanse of life. I find it remarkable the utter resilience you can find, plants and bacteria in particular. Heck, you can even leave 'em on the moon for a couple years and they'll be okay.

  2. I can't wait to see your pictures on Flickr. Maybe I can get one framed or matted or something?
