Worth the Risk

"The risk [of being honest] was great; but we could not let him continue this way, since at stake was a literary future in which we had absolute faith."
- Maxime du Camp regarding Gustave Flaubert's* first attempt at a novel

This sentiment (minus the literary aspect) should undergird our every conversation. As each person is made in the image of God, too much is at stake to allow our friends (or those under our pastoral care) to live lives that are unbecoming to who they really are.

*Flaubert was the author of Madame Bovary, a highly influential work in the history of fiction.

Actually, I'm just going to post the color version, too. I waffled for a while, but I think I like it better. I'll let you decide.

How Nebraska Should Be Seen

How Nebraska Should Be Seen, originally uploaded by Jeromie.

While visiting my grandparents last week, Liz and I took his 1960s Cadillac out for a spin. I promise I didn't try to look through the viewfinder while I took this shot.
